ARM City Consultants, BIZY TECH and Rice Council of Tanzania (RCT) Sign MoU to Accelerate Digital Transformation of Rice Value Chain.

On 17 August 2026 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, : ARM City Consultants Ltd, BIZY TECH Limited and the Rice Council of Tanzania (RCT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the digital transformation and sustainable development of Tanzania’s rice value chain. The partnership brings together the geospatial, soil, land and agricultural technology solutions of KILIMO ARDHI™️, the digital agriculture capabilities of KILIMO BANDO, and the extensive rice-sector coordination, farmer mobilization, capacity-building, market linkage, and policy engagement expertise of RCT. Under the MoU, the three institutions will explore integrated technology-driven initiatives covering digital farmer registration and profiling, soil testing and fertilizer recommendations, farm and land mapping, digital land information, access to finance, smart irrigation, seed systems, rice miller and SME development, post-harvest management, aflatoxin control, market linkage, traceability, climate-smart agriculture, and data-driven policy development. The collaboration is designed to connect farmers and other rice value-chain actors with digital services, reliable agricultural and land information, financial institutions, markets, technology providers, and public-sector programmes. It will also support the adoption of technologies such as GIS, remote sensing, IoT-based soil and irrigation monitoring, digital advisory systems, agricultural data platforms, grain-quality testing, and post-harvest technologies. The partnership represents a significant step toward building a more productive, technology-enabled, climate-resilient and commercially connected rice sector in Tanzania, while creating opportunities for public and private investment across the entire value chain. The parties will initially prioritize twelve areas of collaboration, including digital rice farmer registration, soil health and fertilizer management, geospatial farm measurement, land information and agricultural finance, irrigation digitization, miller and SME digitization, seed traceability, capacity building, rice value-chain platforms, market development, policy and advocacy, and climate and environmental resilience. The MoU establishes an overarching framework for collaboration, with specific projects and commercial activities to be implemented through separate project-specific agreements defining their respective scope, deliverables, financing, responsibilities, revenue arrangements, data governance and implementation mechanisms.
