ARM City Consultants LTD, through its flagship platform KILIMO ARDHI, launches landmark digital soil testing partnership to transform Tanzania’s rice sector

ARM City Consultants Ltd (ARM), in collaboration with Bizy Tech Limited and the Rice Council of Tanzania (RCT), has officially entered into a strategic partnership to roll out a nationwide digital soil testing and soil health service targeting rice farmers across Tanzania.
This initiative, powered through the KILIMO ARDHI and KILIMO BANDO platforms, marks a major step toward data-driven agriculture, enabling farmers to access precise soil diagnostics, fertilizer recommendations, and actionable agronomic insights at scale.
At the core of this partnership is a shared vision: to modernize Tanzania’s agricultural sector by embedding digital intelligence into every farm decision while creating meaningful employment opportunities for youth across rural communities.
The service introduces a structured, technology-enabled workflow that begins with farmer registration and farm mapping, followed by scientifically guided soil sample collection, digital testing, and the delivery of tailored soil health reports directly to farmers. This integrated approach ensures that farmers receive accurate, timely, and practical recommendations to improve productivity and soil sustainability.
ARM plays a central technical role in this ecosystem. The company is responsible for providing soil-testing technologies, processing samples, conducting sensor-based analysis, and maintaining strict quality control standards. ARM also supports the interpretation of results, enabling farmers to better understand soil nutrient conditions and make informed decisions on farm inputs and management practices.
A key pillar of the initiative is the creation of ajira kwa vijana (youth employment) through a network of Village-Based Advisors (VBAs). These trained young professionals operate at the community level, supporting farmer registration, coordinating soil sample collection, and facilitating communication between farmers and the digital platforms. The model transforms youth into active participants in agricultural service delivery, equipping them with technical skills, digital tools, and income-generating opportunities.

RCT’s involvement ensures deep penetration into the rice value chain, leveraging its extensive network of councils, irrigation schemes, AMCOS, millers, and farmer groups across 64 rice-growing districts. This institutional support is expected to accelerate adoption, strengthen farmer trust, and drive large-scale impact.
The program is underpinned by rigorous quality assurance protocols, including standardized soil sampling methodologies, multi-point collection per acre, and strict validation processes. This guarantees reliability of results and consistency in the advisory services delivered to farmers.
With an ambitious initial rollout targeting thousands of farms, the initiative is expected to significantly improve soil health management, increase agricultural productivity, and unlock new economic opportunities at the grassroots level.
Beyond soil testing, the partnership lays the foundation for future expansion into precision agriculture services such as geospatial farm mapping, soil health monitoring, digital advisory systems, and data-driven agricultural financing, positioning ARM and its partners as key enablers of Tanzania’s agricultural transformation.
